We’ve plenty of Moonstone charms and pendants on their way to us! Did you know that according to Hindu mythology Moonstone is made from solidified moonbeams, how magical is that? Reality is a little different, it’s formed when albite and orthoclase separate into layers resulting in Moonstone. The sheen-like glow is due to a phenomena called adularescence. Adularescence is an optical phenomenon, similar to labradorescence and aventurescence, that is produced in gemstones such as Moonstone and Labradorite. The effect of adularescence, also commonly known as Schiller Shiller, is best described as a milky, bluish luster or glow originating from below the surface of the stone.

Rainbow Moonstone, also known as White Labradorite, is actually a variety of Labradorite that exhibits flashy colours and rainbows throughout. The name “Rainbow Moonstone” was coined by the lapidary and mineral communities to describe this stone, even though it's not an Orthoclase (Moonstone).

Together with Pearl and Alexandrite, Moonstone is crowned as the June birthstone, and designated for the zodiac sign of Gemini. It's a modern June stone that is given to the 13th year of marriage and every succeeding 13 years after that.

Moonstone is said to enhance intuition, promote inspiration, success and good fortune in love and business. Moonstone aids the digestive system, assimilates nutrients, eliminates toxins and helps with fluid retention, as well as alleviating degenerative conditions of skin, hair, eyes, liver and pancreas.
